And how I make this, it's kinda complicated. xD But I'll be happy to tell you!
1) First you need to have a laptop with a DVD ROM function and Imageready!
2) Visit the link provided to download a program called "Media Player Classic." Don't worry, it's completely safe and completely free. [link]
3) Once you have download the program, put a DVD into the disk drive. When asked what you want to do with the DVD, go to the option that says "Do Nothing."
4) Open Media Player Classic. Once you have done that go to File<Open DVD. This should start the DVD for you.
5) At the bottom of the player you should see the different icons telling you what you want to do with the DVD. There's Play, Stop, Pause, and others. To the very far right there is an icon that if you scroll over it, it says "Step." If you click this it will freeze the movie at whatever point you're at.
6) Go to File<Save Image. This will allow you to save whatever image you have on the DVD. Make sure that if you're making an avatar to save all of the images in the same folder and do NOT rename them. Once you have saved the first image, go back to the step icon and click it once or twice depending on how long you want the avatar to be.. This will take you a bit further into the movie. Save the image again.
7) Keep going until you have the section of the movie you want for the avatar. This does take time, but in the end it's worth it. Once you're done saving, close out of the the player.
8) YOU MUST HAVE PHOTOSHOP AND IMAGEREADY TO GO FORWARD! Open up Imageready. Once you have go to File<Import<Folder as Frames. Select the folder that you have saved the images in and press enter. This will bring up a window with a picture of the beginning frame and a window titled "Animation" with all of the picture in it. If you click play on the Animation window, it will show all of the picture in order as an animation.
9) In the top right corner of the animation window you will see a small arrow. Click it and go to "Optimize Animation." Uncheck both "Bounding Box" and "Redundant Pixal Removal" and click okay. This will allow the animation to run more smoothly.
10) While the animation is moving, use the Crop tool to get it to what size you want it to be. The moving will let you see what exactly is being cropped into the avatar. As for size, I usually do 100x100.
11) After it has been cropped go to File<Save Optimized As. Save it where ever you want to on your computer.
And there you go, you'll have a nice avatar! ^^ I hope this helps, it you have any other questions don't be afraid to ask me! I'll be happy to help.
